Friday This and That

(photo taken by the talented Stanley Ong)

It's Friday! Yipee! We are all ready for a weekend here in our household. Here are some of the things I have been thinking about:

:: Rice for dinner. Is anyone else doing Operation Rice Bowl this year? I remember doing it as a kid: such a great program and a wonderful way to pass the faith on to the next generation.
:: Cherry Blossoms are blooming early this year, and we are totally going to make the most of it... I think next weekend will be just perfect: perhaps a trip to Kenwood is in order (note to those visiting the DC area: this is a lovely Maryland neighborhood with tons of beautiful cherry blossoms but fewer crowds).
:: There is only one week until the end of daylight savings time! Let the countdown begin.
:: An interesting Daily Show, I think... Cathleen Kaveny is very thoughtful and refreshing.
:: My camera is coming home soon! I have really missed it.
:: Good friends returning to the neighborhood... oh, I am soo excited!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, friends!

Weekending

Here we are, on the cusp of another weekend! Our plans include...

::going out for burgers, of course. We have to live it up before lent starts next Wednesday (I think the local pizza place will be seeing more of us!).
::teaching a hypnobirthing class to a group of fabulous students. What a gift to have a job that I look forward to so much
::entertaining our very grown up niece along with Ben's side of the family (and making something tasty and paleolithic for dinner... any ideas?)
::making some raisin bread to enjoy on the way to church on Sunday morning. At the end of the day, none of us are morning people here in our household, so we need all the help we can get.
::going for an exciting adventure on Monday's holiday. Warm weather, a daytrip to the mountains, cold weather, a trip to the city. The thermostat will be our guide.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! Any exciting plans?

Inspiration

I love this purse and have just the right fabric for one (thank you, free patterns!). Now I just need some more thread.
I discovered this blog yesterday. Beautiful.
I'm proud that there's not too much that captures my consummeristic desires these days, but is it wrong to say, "ooh! ooh! i want, i want, i want!"
And I think that there are some baby pinafores coming Lily's way. I love making stuff for that cutie.

And here's a little snapshot from our normal: lovely idea, Anna. Those may or may not be my pajama bottoms, lying just where I took them off. Note to self: tidy house. And do you recognize that mirror, Annie? Yet to be hung up, but lovely nevertheless.

Some Inspiration for Your Weekend

I'm thinking about doing this. But only if I can find a super cheap dresser at a thrift store this weekend. I'm shooting for under $50.

I have loved following this meditation on beauty this week. I loved this quote: "As a Christ-follower, the pursuit of the beautiful is an act of redemption."

Some more thoughts on taking a family Sabbath.

Thinking about natural cold remedies. Any others you know of out there? One I absolutely and completely swear by is chicken soup. How can you forget about chicken soup?

What has inspired you?
