::I think that cooking might be one of my favorite ways to unwind. When an opening popped up to make the sides and dessert for Thanksgiving dinner, I jumped on the opportunity and went to town on Wednesday and Thursday. This year I made a sweet potato casserole, a broccoli cheese casserole, rustic dinner rolls, the mandatory green beans with almonds, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and pecan pie, and Ben made some cranberry bread. And I made a turkey too, although as I predicted, mine wasn't really as good as my mom's-- I'm going to have to figure out her secrets!

::Friday morning reading (Zosia reading Spiderman to Hugo, I believe). Rather than heading to the stores on Friday, we used it as a day to clean house and start to prepare for Advent, which starts tomorrow. Can you believe it?
::We went to see the lighting of a local Christmas tree last night. Can you see Santa and Mrs. Clause through the crowd? And there's the Christmas tree before and after being lit. It officially feels like the beginning of the season!
::Lily found her happy place up on Ben's shoulders, and Hugo chose to dress himself in camo jacket and pants (instant favorites given to us as hand me downs). And of course twins in the stroller. Quite the motley crew. We make people smile, which is simply the best.
We have been given so much by the giver of all things. I am truly grateful, especially so as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. God dwelling among us is the ultimate miracle, and I am feeling especially ready to mark that great day this year.

Happy Advent! And belated Happy Thanksgiving! Your holiday baking looks so beautiful (and I'm sure it tasted just as good)! I actually got through Thanksgiving without making any pies (kind of sad since that's my favorite), but Nik actually made a maple pecan pie (using maple syrup instead of corn syrup), and it turned out very good (although I was doubtful that something so natural could taste as good as that Karo). ;P
Happy Advent and Thanksgiving to you too! We miss our Boston gatherings every year. Nik's pie sounds awesome! We've made maple pecan pie with some success, but at the end of the day, I think it's the one time I go to the store expressly to buy corn syrup. :-)
