Kerry, we do have something interesting-- many bus routes, and a bus stop full of little kids right across the street. You can't beat that! (we have even been known to go over and "wait" for the bus just to soak up the ambiance ;-)
My little one does this too and it scares me to death sometimes. Not that I am any more at ease close to water but at least she gets to explore:
