I think I must be getting braver: I actually gave a handmade present at a wedding this weekend. Those of you who have slowly ventured into craftiness can probably understand the self-doubt it can usher in. Is it too crazy? Will it fall apart? Will they scratch their heads and wonder aloud, "What is this?" For now I have put that all aside and am hoping that this lovely couple enjoy their picnic blanket as much as we have enjoyed ours. And who knows? Maybe one day they will be so lucky to have two sweet pairs of tiny bare feet running all over theirs as well.
I didn't get a great shot of it, but I'm secretly in love with the showgirl fabric in the corners (picked up at the old thrift store along with the rest of the fabric). I really do love the tutorial this comes from: simple, straightforward, and just perfect for spring.

Oh they will surely love it! I think it is fantastic.
What a lovely gift! I'm sure they'll love it. My mother-in-law made us a quilt when we got married, and we've so enjoyed it -- it's been a daily reminder of her love, blessing and support that no carefully-chosen store-bought curio could have communicated in quite the same way.
How was the wedding?
Yes, I am comforted by the fact that we treasure the handmade gifts (a tablecloth and a throw) that we received for our wedding. And the wedding was beautiful and fun-- such a treat to sneak out with no one but Ben and catch up with old friends.
I love this, and I would have loved it for my wedding! I think it's so beautiful!
My sister made this blanket for our girl on her first birthday. We haven't taken it outdoors yet, but we've had so many picnics on our living room floor. It is one of my favorite things (even though it's really not mine)!
This is a beautiful blanket and such a special gift. I am sure that it is greatly apprectiated. What fun to think of all of the memories to come for your friends that this pretty blanket might be a part of!
Your blanket is so lovely. I have only given handmades to the best of friends. And I dont think any of mine looked like this. Just so pretty.
That is super cute :) I would love for you to come and link up to check me out saturdays at www.iamonly1woman.blogspot.com
Thank you all for the positive feedback and encouragement. It's so sweet.
OH how special! Lovely job.
This past Christmas most of our gifts to family were handmade. I was so concerned that they'd think I "cheaped out" or that I was a complete nutjob, but everyone absolutely loved their gift. I'm sure your friends will too, and they'll always, always remember who made that special present for them.
