A Menagerie

Here are a few additions to our play material-- some lovely little finger puppets made by my sister Irene, an artist among many other things. They're all pretty much made of felt, embroidery floss, and those googly little eyes-- definitely a doable project for a loving parent or even older child. Bonus points to anyone who can name all of the animals (and there are some under-represented ones in our collection!).

Happy weekend wanderings!

Um, turtle, lion, penguin, elephant, octopus? They look great and have my crafting wheels a turnin. I love them and now really want to get some felt. And Irene's art is amazing. Is it really available for purchase? I would some of those landscapes for the boy's room or maybe mine.

So close! We do have a lion, but not in this picture. And yes, she does sell her artwork. I think you can purchase it through the linked site, and I'm working with her to get some items on etsy. The sweet thing has about as much capitalistic instinct as my mother, who, when you compliment a clothing item, will take it off and insist you take it home. :-)

Ooh, everyone is so close! The one animal that has not been properly identified has been guessed as being a lion and a porcupine. Any more guesses out there?

I came back to ask if it was a hedgehog...yeah! It's like Hedgie from Jan Brett's The Hat. One of my favorite books.
