in which we find a small tree

This year we thought it would be fun to get a tiny tree.  Not one of those super duper tiny trees, but a regular tree of the small variety.  Small enough to comfortably fit on top of a small table so that our littlest family member (who has consumed whole raw eggs, laundry detergent, and paint in the past week... he is an expert eater of all sorts of things) won't get into it as easily.  We thought around 5 feet would be perfect, and as it so happens, that's not easy to find.  See that tree Ben is holding up?  Too big.  And too wide.  We found ourselves getting all sorts of help asking for "your skinniest tree," which we ended up finding and purchasing.  We had them cut an extra six inches and a few rungs of branches off of the bottom (skeptical looks on Hugo courtesy of the chainsaw), and after driving it home and carrying it into our living room....

well, you will just have to wait until tomorrow, in which I will bring you Part II: in which we decorate a small tree.

Advent starts tomorrow!  We are so so excited because as everyone knows, Advent is my absolutely favorite season.

More advent posts here, here, here, and here.  Whew, looking through old posts makes me realize I've been writing in this space for many years now!
