Festival of the Wreaths

This Saturday was The Festival of the Wreaths, or Wianki, a Polish celebration of the summer solstice.  I headed down with my two little Polish girls (and Polish boy) to meet up with family at the festival. We all watched with wide eyes as all the big Polish girls danced and sang and made wreaths.  We made wreaths, too, of course.  I remember these celebrations from when I was a little girl, with my own big sister and my own Polish costume.  There's something so lasting about these tactile memories (wreaths, and water, and dancing).  I hope these little ones remember it, too.
